Spring Break and Easter Weekend

We started our weekend on Thursday and heading out to the Basin to spend time with Matt who lives in Vernal for work.
We made our 1st stop in Mountain Home, UT to visit Grandpa & Aunt Addie.
We stayed our first night at grandpa's sleeping on the couch bed (although none of us got any sleep because grandpa has this clock that is VERY loud and tells you what time it is on every hour, therefore at 12am, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am ect. we were notified of the time then not to mention grandpa's coo-coo clock that coo-coo's every time the hour strikes).
The next morning we Skyped mom and dad so grandpa and Aunt Addie could to talk with them, dad has been recovering from surgery that he had to have on his mission in the Philippines.
Aunt Addie made us some yummy waffles for breakfast then we were on our way to Vernal to meet up with Thad and Kristal and Trinity and their cute kids at Golden Corral.
It was so fun to meet and have lunch together outside of the family reunions where everyone is too busy.
Matt surprised us by getting off early so he could join us for lunch.
We drove around Vernal and were looking at all the changes that has been done since I lived there 27 years ago.
We drove by my house and the high school (which is now the Jr. high) there were SO many changes Vernal has really grown, which made me kinda sad that all my 'land marks' have been replaced by buildings.
On Saturday we got sandwiches and headed up to Dry Fork Canyon for a picnic.
We stopped at the Indian Petroglyphs, the sandstone cliffs there were literally covered with artwork done by Native Americans of an earlier period. The trails took us up close to view the figures up to 9 feet tall. The figures represent the Fremont culture which flourished in the area from about 1-1200A.D.
We took Sparky on our adventure and he loved being part of the family.
We then  headed up the canyon to have our picnic but to my disappointment ALL the picnic spots have been replaced with huge fancy homes and ranches, it was so depressing.
We decided to head to Red Fleet in the opposite direction for out picnic instead.
The sun was shinning and it was such a beautiful day we found tables down by the boat ramp so we got out and set up our picnic, then we lasted 5 minutes because the wind started to blow and it was FREEZING!! so we finished our picnic in the car!!
Matt threw out some Cheetos to a squirrel who was checking us out near by and that silly squirrel picked up the Cheeto which made it look like a BIG smile, it was so funny!
We headed back to town to get cleaned up from our hike then went to dinner at Naples Country Cafe (which by the way wasn't bad food).
On Easter Sunday we woke up early and headed back (in separate cars) to attend the Altamont Stake Conference with all the relatives (we forgot that we had Sparky with us so we'd take turns checking on him locked up in the car).
After church we went to grandpa's where we had a wonderful lunch prepared by my Aunts (Addie and Lola) and visited with Craig and Lola, Kenny and Tasha (and their adorable little boys) Brittany and Kreg (and their beautiful little girls), and Addie's sister-in-law Carolyn.
We then headed home later that afternoon but had to take a picture of the first traffic light in Duchesne, which will be a history moment!!
We finally got home about 9pm and boy were we exhausted!!
We hated to see our fun weekend come to an end especially saying goodbye to Matt and going in separate directions.
we met some of my cousins at the Golden Corral

This is Casey, Thad & Kristel's cute baby boy
we loved playing with him.

My cute family

KaDee's pointing at a cave, we were trying to guess what scary thing lives in there. =0/

Sparky KNOWS he's part of the family, he wanted up on the bench to each 'his' lunch that the lady at Subway made special for him (a few slices of roast beef),

The sun was shining but looks can be deceiving... it was FREEZING!! so we lasted 5 minutes at the table and finished our lunch in the car.

Matt threw out Cheeto's and this cute little squirrel was so happy for his handout.
